With school starting back next week, that means the fall sports season is here and the first team to get underway will be the Lady Wolverine softball team.
The team will swing into action Saturday, Aug. 2, when they host the Lady Panthers of Ridgeland High School in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
The Lady Wolverines will get off to a fast start as they will then host the Lady Ramblers of LaFayette High School on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 5:30 p.m., then travel to Northwest Whitfield on Aug. 6, to face the Lady Bruins at 5:30 p.m., and on Friday, Aug. 8, they will travel to Calhoun for a pair of games in the Calhoun tournament.
Lady Wolverine head coach Stephen Graham shared a preview to the upcoming season:
“I am excited about the 2025 season. Looking at it, we have every piece of the puzzle that we need to have a successful season: solid pitching staff, a solid defense to back them up, and an offensive staff that should produce runs. Our biggest job is to just put it all together this year. They have worked really hard this summer so far showing improvements as a team. We have six seniors this year and are returning seven starters from last season,” Graham said.
“This should add up to an exciting season for the Lady Wolverines who always look for that season-ending trip to Columbus and a shot at another state championship!
