The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine soccer team recently won the region championship and hosted the first round of the state tournament last week.

The Lady Wolverines hosted Jefferson County on Thursday, April 24. The start of the game was delayed due to a day of heavy rain. Efforts were made to dry the field to make it safe for play. The game was delayed some 45 minutes and then started for ten minutes to determine if play could continue. The field was deemed safe to play, and the game continued.

The Lady Wolverines quickly took control of the game and early in the first half had a 3-0 lead. They continued to dominate but were unable to score again, and the first half ended with Dade County up 3-0.

In the second half, the Lady Wolverines continued to dominate play, taking numerous shots on goal but could not get one in the goal. Visiting Jefferson County found themselves on defense most of the game, getting very few shots on goal and DCHS claimed the win 3-0.

Dade will now advance to the Sweet Sixteen round by hosting Worth County on Thursday, May 1, with game time set for 5:30 p.m.

Worth County defeated Fannin County in the first round 3-1. The winner of this game will advance to the Elite Eight against the winner of Social Circle and Dodge County.

Good luck Lady Wolverines!
