Wolverines Take Series Win Against Indians

The Dade County High School Wolverine baseball team picked up a pair of big wins last week when they played a key three-game series with the Chattooga Indians.
The series started on Tuesday, March 11, at Chattooga with the Wolverines getting off to a fast start, scoring four big runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead.
The Indians pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to cut Dade County’s led to 4-2.
After a scoreless third inning, the Wolverines scored three big runs in the top of the fourth to go up 7-3. The Indians answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 7-4 but pitching dominated the remaining three innings as Dade picked up a big win over the Indians in the first game of the three-game series.
Parker Hill led the Wolverines with two hits and two RBI’s while Jake Harris also had two hits and one RBI.
Kaiden Hubbard picked up the win pitching four innings giving up five hits, four runs (two earned), walking one, and striking out five. Parker Hill and River McBryar pitched the final three innings giving up no hits or runs.

On Wednesday, March 12, the Wolverines hosted the Chattooga Indians in game two of the three-game series and fell behind early as the Indians scored a run in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead.
Dade scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 2-1, but Chattooga responded with three runs in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth to take a 7-1 lead.
The Wolverines managed a run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Indian pitching shut down the Wolverines after that and went on to claim the win 8-2, holding Dade County to just two hits.
Evan Mims managed the only hit for the Wolverines, while Hubbard scored one run and had one RBI. The game resulted in 11 errors, four by the Indians and seven by the Wolverines.

Dade County traveled back to Chattooga on Friday to face the Indians in the third and deciding game of the series.
The Wolverines got off to a fast start, scoring one in the top of the first inning and nine big runs in the top of the second to take a 10-0 lead in the second inning.
Chattooga responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and added another run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 10-3.
Dade County responded with a run in the sixth, and the Indians closed out the scoring in the bottom of the seventh with a run, giving the Wolverines the big 11-4 win and the series win taking two of the three games.
McBryar led the Wolverines with two hits, two RBI’s, and a run scored. Dade County collected 11 hits in the game.

This week, the Wolverines continue region play when they host the Armuchee Indians on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. DCHS will travel to Armuchee on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m., game.
