Gordon Lee Trojans Send Wolverines Home In Opening Round Of Region Tournament

The Dade County Wolverine basketball team traveled to Calhoun on Monday, Feb. 10, for the first-round game of the region tournament at Gordan Central High School.
Dade County faced the Gordan Lee Trojans in the first-round game, a team the Wolverines split their two regular season games with. The Wolverines lost to Gordon Lee, 55-52, on Dec. 3 and defeated the Trojans 54-40 at home on Jan. 9.
Dade ended the regular season as the sixth-place team, while the Trojans finished in seventh place.
On Monday, the Trojans took the early lead and at the end of the first quarter were up by four points, 11-7.
The Wolverines played better in the second quarter, outscoring Gordon Lee 12-11, cutting the lead to three points at the end of the first half, 22-19 Trojans.
Dade came out in the second half and played much better, scoring 15 third quarter points while Gordon Lee put up 11. The Wolverines took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, 34-33.
Unfortunately for the Wolverines, the Trojans suddenly exploded with 23 fourth quarter points after scoring 11 in each of the first three quarters. Dade County was unable to keep up, scoring just 14 points and fell to the Trojans by the final score of 56-48.
The loss ended the Wolverines’ season with a 7-19 overall record.
Braydan Jones led Dade with 12 points, while Jace Anderson finished with 11 points, and Nate Hurst finished with nine points.
