Region Tournament Play Is Underway

The Dade County Wolverine basketball team hosted the Fannin County Rebels on Monday, Feb. 3.
The Wolverines got off to a good start against a good Rebel team as they took a five-point first-quarter lead, 14-9.
The hot shooting Fannin County team answered in a big way in the second quarter, hitting several three-point shots and outscoring the Wolverines by 15 points to take the lead at the end of the first half, 34-24.
Dade County held their own in the third quarter as the Rebels outscored them 17-16, to lead 51-40 heading into the fourth quarter.
Fannin County put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wolverines 14-9 and taking the win 65-49.
Bryson Shrader led Dade County with 14 points while H. Garmany and Cash Christiansen scored nine points each.

The Wolverines traveled to Chattooga County on Feb. 4 to face the Indians, the second-place team in region.
Dade had a good first quarter, outscoring the Indians by four to take the lead, 14-10.
The Indians found their shooting range in the second quarter, however, and outscored the Wolverines by ten to take the lead at the end of the first half, 32-26.
The third quarter was back and forth as the teams traded baskets, and when the quarter was over, Dade had cut a point off the Indian lead and trailed 45-40.
The fourth quarter was Chattooga County, however, as they outscored the Wolverines 26-16 to claim the win, 71-56.
The Wolverines were led by H. Garmany with 16 points and Braydan Jones who finished with 13 points.

The Wolverines traveled to Coosa High School on Friday night to face the Eagles in the final regular season game of the year.
The game got off to a slow start as defense dominated early and at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles held a five-point lead, 14-9.
The action picked up a little in the second quarter as Coosa outscored Dade 15-13 to take a seven-point lead at the end of the first half, 29-22.
The third quarter was dominated by defense as both teams struggled to score, but in the end, the Eagles managed to add to their lead, outscoring the Wolverines 11-8 in the quarter and lead 40-30 heading into the fourth quarter.
Dade County tried to rally in the fourth quarter and outscored Coosa by four, but it was not enough, and they fell to the Eagles 52-46.
Jace Anderson led Dade County with 13 points while H. Garmany finished with 11.

The Wolverines started playing in the region tournament at Gordon Central on Monday and the results of their region tournament games will be in next week’s Sentinel.
