Lady Wolverines End Regular Season Play

The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team hosted the Lady Rebels of Fannin County on Monday, Feb. 3. The Lady Rebels came in as the top team in the region with a perfect region record and only two losses in the season.

The Lady Wolverines played well in the first quarter, hanging with the tall and talented Lady Rebels who held a three-point lead after the first quarter, 16-13.

Fannin County got things together in the second quarter, however, outscoring the Lady Wolverines by 18 to take the big lead at the end of the first half, 40-19.

Dade County did not quit and came out in the third quarter to outscore the Lady Rebels 15 to eight to cut the lead to 14, 48-34.

Fannin County put the finishing touches on in the fourth quarter, outscoring Dade 18 to six to claim a big 66-40 win.

The Lady Wolverines were led by Adilynn Gross with 13 points and nine rebounds and Makensy Cooper with ten points and eight rebounds.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Chattooga County to face the Lady Indians in another tough region game.

The Lady Indians came out hot and put up 20 first quarter points as the Lady Wolverines had trouble scoring and trailed 20-9 heading into the second quarter.

Dade played better on both ends of the court in the second quarter, holding Chattooga to 11 points while scoring 11 of their own to trail at the end of the first half, 31-20.

A slow third quarter resulted in the Lady Indians adding to their lead by five points and heading into the fourth quarter on top, 41-25.

Chattooga put the game away, outscoring the Lady Wolverines 17 to 12 in the fourth quarter for a 58-37 win.

Cooper led Dade County with nine points and six rebounds. Morgan Edwards and Kamryn Morris had five points each.

On Friday night, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Coosa High School to face the Lady Eagles in the final regular season game of the year.

Dade County got off to a good start, taking the lead at the end of the first quarter, 13-11.

The Lady Wolverines were able to add to their lead in the second quarter when they outscored the Lady Eagles 12 to nine and were up by five points at the end of the first half, 25-20.

Coosa was a different team in the second half as they came out and took the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Dade County 17 to ten and were up 37-35 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Wolverines struggled to score in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Eagles pulled out a hard-fought win with the final score of 53-47.

Cooper knocked down 16 points for Dade while Riley Talley had 11 points and Gross scored ten points.
