Regular Season Ends Friday Night Against Coosa’s Eagles

The Dade County Wolverine basketball team hosted the Gordan Central Warriors on Jan. 28 in an exciting, hard-fought game.
The two teams got off to a fast start, and at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors held a two-point lead over the Wolverines, 17-15.

As the two teams battled toe-to-toe in the second quarter, exchanging baskets the entire quarter, Gordon Central maintained its two-point lead. Both teams put up 14 second quarter points, and the score at the end of the first half had the Warriors on top of Dade County 31-29.
The third quarter was more of the same as both teams fought for every point and the Wolverines managed to take the lead, outscoring the Warriors 17 to 14 to lead 46-45.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors could not miss as they ran away from the Wolverines, outscoring them 27 to 14, to claim a hard-fought win, 72-60. Dade laid it all on the line but ran out of steam in the fourth quarter.
Jace Anderson led the Wolverines with 16 points while Braydan Jones finished the night with ten points and Bryson Shrader and H. Garmany scored eight points each.

The Wolverines made the long bus ride to Fannin County to face the Rebels in another key region game last Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The game got off to a slow start as both teams struggled to score, and at the end of the first quarter, the Rebels led the Wolverines by two points, 11-9.
The Rebels came to life in the second quarter as they scored twenty-one points while the Wolverines struggled to score ten points, giving the Rebels a 32-19 lead at the end of the first half.
The third quarter saw more of the same as the Wolverines could not get their shots to fall while the Rebels could not miss, outscoring the Wolverines 21-7 to take a commanding 53-26 lead at the end of the quarter.
The Wolverines rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points but the Rebels coasted to a 64-46 win.
Shrader led the Wolverines with 13 points.

The Wolverines traveled to Dalton Academy on Friday night and came away with a big 78-21 win. Stats for the game were not available at press time and should be available for next week’s edition.
The Wolverines enter the final week of the regular season playing Fannin County on Monday and then traveling to Chattooga County on Tuesday and finishing the regular season at Coosa on Friday night.
All three games are important region games, so get out and support the Wolverines.
