Poor Shooting Leads To 53–31 Region Loss At Gordon Central

The Dade County Wolverine basketball team traveled to Calhoun last Friday night to face the Gordon Central Warriors in a region game after a much-needed Christmas break.
The Wolverines opened the game ice cold as they could not buy a basket, and at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors held a 16-0 lead.
Dade managed to bounce back in the second quarter, cutting the Warrior lead in half and outscoring them 15-7, and trailed at the end of the first half by eight, 23-15.
The third quarter was a combination of good Warrior defense and poor Wolverine shooting as Gordon Central increased their lead to 18, outscoring the Wolverines 16-6 to lead 39-21.
The Warriors put the finishing touches on Dade County in the fourth quarter, outscoring them 14-10 and taking the win by the final score of 53-31.
Bryson Shrader led the Wolverines with eight points, and Nate Hurst finished with six points.
Dade – Shrader 8, Hurst 6, Christiansen 3, W Garmany 3, Mims 3, H Garmany 2, Hill 2, Anderson 2, Morris 2.
On Saturday night, the Wolverines traveled to Sylvania, Ala., to face the Rams.
They got off to a much better start on Saturday, scoring 14 first quarter points, but the Rams scored 23 to take an early nine-point lead, 23-14.
The Wolverines rallied back in the second quarter, outscoring Sylvania 24 to 16 to trail by a single point at the end of the first half, 29-38.
The Rams were able to outscore Dade by three points in the third quarter, 14-11, and they held a four-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, 53-49.
In a wild fourth quarter, the two teams battled to the very end as Sylvania held on to take a 73-68 win over a Wolverine team that would not give up.
H. Garmany led the Wolverines with 16 points, while Cash Christiansen scored 11, and Braydan Jones scored 10 points.
Dade – H. Garmany 16, Christiansen 11, Jones 10, Shrader 9, Hurst 8, Morris 8, Avans 4, Anderson 2.
This will be a remarkably busy week for the Wolverines as they hosted North Sand Mountain on Monday, Dalton Academy on Tuesday in a region game, travel to Chattooga on Friday for a region game and then travel to Coosa on Saturday for another region game. Games will start after the Lady Wolverines games at approximately 7:30 p.m.
