Coahulla Creek, Christian Heritage Pick Up Wins Over Lady Wolverines

The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team traveled to Dalton on Tuesday, Dec. 10, to face the Coahulla Creek Lady Colts in a non-region game.

The Lady Wolverines got off to their usual slow start as their shooting woes continued, scoring just eight first quarter points while the Lady Colts were firing away scoring 16 to take the first quarter lead, 16-8.

Shooting woes continued in the second quarter for Dade County who again scored eight points while Coahulla Creek poured in 18 and at the end of the first half were on top 34-16.

In the second half, the Lady Wolverines improved their shooting, scoring 11 in the third quarter, but the Lady Colts kept the hot hand and scored 19 to increase their lead to 26 points, 53-17.

Dade County finished with 15 fourth-quarter points, but the Lady Colts scored 16 and finished with a big 69-42 win.

Kiera Hughes had her best game of the season for the Lady Wolverines as she scored 13 points, hitting four three-point shots, and grabbing six rebounds.

Camy Chambers finished with eight points, hitting a pair of three-pointers.

The Lady Wolverines finished with their best three-point shooting of the season hitting seven of 24 for 29.2 percent.

The Lady Wolverines hosted the Lady Lions of Christian Heritage on Friday night. The Dalton team came ready to play.

The visiting Lady Lions took the early lead and at the end of the first quarter had managed to build a five-point lead, 13-8.

The action picked up some in the second quarter as Christian Heritage scored 15 points while the Lady Wolverines again managed just eight points and trailed at the end of the first half, 28-16. This was the second game in a row they managed just 16 first half points.

In the third quarter, the Lady Lions kept the pressure on Dade County, outscoring them 14-7 and leading 42-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

With their shooting struggles continuing, the Lady Wolverines managed 14 fourth quarter points, but the Lady Lions managed 14 and came away with a region win, 56-35.

Makensy Cooper led the Lady Wolverines with nine points and seven rebounds and senior Adilynn Gross with eight point and 13 rebounds.

This week, the Lady Wolverines played at Armuchee on Tuesday night in a region match up and will travel to Sale Creek, Tenn., on Friday for a non-region game. The Sale Creek game will tip-off at 6 p.m.
