Edwards scored seven points along with Adilynn Gross in action last week against Northwest Whitfield to lead the team in scoring. Dade’s next home game will be Friday, Dec. 13, against Christian Heritage.

Now that the Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone, basketball action will be picking up for the Dade County High School teams.

So far this season, the Lady Wolverines have managed four wins since the Nov. 14 opener and the Wolverines have managed just two. Due to the football playoffs, several games have been rescheduled for later in the season. Six region teams made the playoffs and one of them, Fannin County, lost out Friday night when they fell to Northeast 48-39.

The Wolverine teams will hit the court on Tuesday night when they travel to Gordon Lee to face the Trojans in the first region action of the season. The junior varsity girls will play at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity girls following at 6 p.m. The boys will take the court at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Wolverines will take the court at North Sand Mountain in the Herd Classic at 2 p.m. against Fyffe.

The following week has the Wolverine teams traveling to Coahulla Creek on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and at home on Dec. 13 when they host Christian Heritage. The junior varsity boys will be at home on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Dade JV Classic with games at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, the Lady Wolverines played Northwest Whitfield in the Ridgeland Classic.

It was a learning experience for the young Lady Wolverines as they struggled against a very good Lady Bruins team.

The Lady Bruins built an early lead and dominated the game, as the Lady Wolverines never got on track, struggling to score and match up against a bigger more physical team.

At the end of the first quarter, Dade County found themselves trailing 19-8, and the second quarter was more of the same. The Lady Bruins added 22 points in the second quarter and at the end of the first half held a commanding 41-16 lead.

Action slowed down in the second half as the Lady Burins coasted, outscoring the Lady Wolverines 13-7 and then finished off by outscoring them 10-5 in the fourth quarter for a 64-28 Lady Bruins win.

The Lady Wolverines were led by Morgan Edwards and Adilynn Gross with seven points each while Makensy Cooper scored five and Riley Talley scored four.

Dade-Pardue 3, K. Hughes, Edwards 7, Cooper 5, Talley 4, Z. Hughes, Gross 7, Warnock, Morris, Daniels 2, Chambers.
