Wolverines Open Season With Oakwood Christian

The Dade County Wolverine basketball team traveled to Oakwood Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 19, to face the Eagles and tip-off the 2024-2025 season.

Dade got off to a fast start, scoring 25 first quarter points and built a 10–point lead, 25-15.

The second quarter would be more of the same for the Wolverines as they poured in another 25 points in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 25-8, and led at the end of the first half, 50-33.

The pace of the game slowed in the second half, but Dade still managed to score t20points and had a commanding lead, 70-38 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Wolverines would then coast to an easy 82-47 win in their first game of the season under new head coach James Emmett

Braydan Jones led Dade County with 16 points and six rebounds; Bryson Shrader, 15 points and five steals; Nate Hurst, 13 points; and H. Garmany, seven points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolverines shot an impressive 47.8 percent on two-point attempts and 37 percent from three-point range for the game. They also had 27 offensive rebounds and 28 defensive rebounds.

On Saturday afternoon the Wolverines hosted the Sylvania Rams in a game that was rescheduled because of the football playoffs.

Both teams got off to a good start and at the end of the first quarter the Rams held a four-point lead, 19-15.

Dade struggled in the second quarter, getting outscored, by Sylvania 17-9 and trailed at the end of the first half, 36-24.

The Wolverines played much better in the third quarter and outscored the Rams 17-16 but still trailed 52-41 heading into the final quarter.

Dade fought hard and cut the lead to seven at one point but could not overcome the Rams big lead they had built earlier and fell by the final score of 65-58.

Shrader and Cash Christiansen led the Wolverines with 11 points each while Ryan Morris finished with nine points and Jace Anderson finished with eight points.

The Wolverines will be back in action Dec.3 when they travel to Gordon Lee for the first region game of the year. They will tip-off following the Lady Wolverines game that begins at 6 p.m.
