Rebels Blank Wolverines

Photo by Eddy Gifford – Carter Christiansen made a big hit on a Fannin County running back in Wolverine action Friday night. Christiansen racked up 16 tackles in the game, but the Wolverines fell 44-0 to the Rebels.
The Dade County Wolverine football team hosted the Fannin County Rebels on Friday night at Wolverine Field before a good crowd on a hot and humid night.
The Wolverine defense came to play early as they held the Rebels to one score in the first quarter and trailed 7-0 after that initial quarter.
While the offense struggled, the defense continued their tough play, and with just seconds left in the first half, the score was still 7-0. Lighting struck in the form of a trick play with time running out in the first half as Fannin County scored on a long run taking a 14-0 lead into the locker room.
The second half was dominated by the Rebels as Dade County struggled in all aspects of the game, especially on offense. The defense that played really well in the first half could not stop Fannin County in the second half as they scored 13 points in the third quarter and then added 17 in the fourth quarter as they pulled away for a big 44-0 win over the Wolverines.
Evan Koger led the Wolverine running game as he carried the ball 12 times for 68 yards. The Wolverine offense managed just 84 yards rushing and 113 yards passing for the game while the visiting Rebels tacked up 487 yards of total offense.
Carter Christiansen led Dade’s defense with 16 tackles, three tackles for loss, one quarterback pressure; Jace Anderson with 13 tackles, one pass breakup; Ryker Stanley with six tackles; and Evan Avans with five tackles and one assist.
The Wolverines had 140 yards in penalties Friday night. Several costly undisciplined penalties really hurt the team.
The Wolverines have a lot of work to do this week before traveling to Armuchee on Friday for another region match up. Their chances are really good against the Indians as the Wolverines are looking for their first region win of the season.
