Softball Team Wins Nine In A Row

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine softball team traveled to Trion on Tuesday, Sept. 3 to face the Lady Bulldogs in a non-region game.

The Lady Wolverines got off to a fast start when Lexi Lawson walked with one out in the first inning, Adilynn Gross singled, Riley Talley reached on a bunt single to load the bases. A fielder’s choice gets the runner at home before a Winter Daniels triple scores three big runs to put them on top 3-0. Isabell White then hit a triple to score the fourth run of the inning. A strikeout ended the inning with Dade County up 4-0.

Lawson was on the mound for the Lady Wolverines and recorded a pair of strikeouts in the first inning on her way to another outstanding game.

The scoreboard read all zeros after that first inning as both pitchers settled in and the Lady Wolverines claimed another win over the Lady Bulldogs, 4-0.

Lawson picked up the win, pitching seven innings and giving up just four hits while striking out ten. She threw 102 pitches, 72 of which were strikes.

The Lady Wolverine offense was led by Daniels with two hits and three RBIs and White with two hits and one RBI.

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, the Lady Wolverines hosted the Lady Dragons of Pepperell, a team they completely dominated earlier in the season when they defeated them 18-0 in three innings on their home field.

This time it was a little closer, but Dade still came away with an easy win in six innings, 10-2.

Kira Strickland picked up the win pitching four innings, giving up two unearned runs, three hits, four walks, and two strikeouts. Lawson pitched two innings of shutout ball.

White had three hits and three RBIs to lead the offense and Rylee Byram had two hits and an RBI, while Gross and Lilah Wilson each had a hit and two RBIs.

The Lady Wolverines picked up the win in six innings, 10-2.

The Lady Wolverines traveled to Dalton on Thursday, Sept. 5, to face region foe Christian Heritage and the game was over early.

Dade County scored 12 first inning runs and completely dominated the host. After scoring seven in the second and two in the third the Lady Wolverines claimed to big 21-0, three inning win.

Ten Lady Wolverine hitters got at least one hit in the game while Talley and Daniels had three hits each. White had four RBIs and two hits in the game while Gross scored three runs, had two hits and two RBIs.

Lawson picked up the win, pitching two innings, giving up two hits and striking out two. Camy Chambers came in to pitch the final inning recording one strikeout.

This week, the Lady Wolverines hosted the Lady Eagles of Coosa on Tuesday and will travel to Gordon Lee to face the Lady Trojans on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., before playing in the Score Tournament on Saturday at Warner Park with game times to be announced.
