The catch saved a perfect game at the time, but the next batter got a bloop single for their only hit of the game. The Lady Wolverines won the game 12-0 in four innings.

The Dade County Lady Wolverine softball team had its easiest week since the start of the season as the game with Chattooga was cancelled due to sickness and a short game with Armuchee at home on Thursday completed the week’s action.

Lexie Lawson got off to a fast start against the visiting Lady Indians as she struck out the first three batters she faced.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Wolverines came out swinging after a couple of walks and a pop out, getting four singles to go along with two more walks and scoring five runs to take the lead after the first inning, 5-0.

The Lady Indians made their first contact in the top of the second when the first batter hit a weak pop up to second baseman Camy Chambers and then Lawson struck out the next two batters, giving her five Ks in two innings.

Dade County started the second inning with three straight singles and scored two more runs to build their lead to 7-0 after two innings of play.

Lawson remained hot in the third inning as she struck out the side, giving her eight strikeouts in nine batters faced, and the score remained 7-0.

The Lady Wolverines managed just one run in the bottom of the third, building their lead to 8-0, as they continued to dominate Armuchee.

In the top of the fourth inning, with one out, center fielder Riley Talley made an outstanding running catch to save the no hitter, but the next batter got a bloop single just over second base for the Lady Indians’ first hit of the game. The next batter grounded out to third baseman Rylee Byram to end the inning.

The Lady Wolverines ended the game in the bottom of the fourth when they scored four runs to build their lead to 12-0. The game was called with two outs due to the run rule.

Lawson pitched an outstanding game, giving up just one hit while striking out eight in the four-inning game. She only needed 40 pitches, 33 strikes, and just seven balls in the game.

The middle of the Lady Wolverine lineup came up big with Talley and Rylee Byram having two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored each while Winter Daniels had one hit, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

In all, the Lady Wolverines had 11 hits in the game, four walks, and zero strikeouts.
