Photo by Eddy Gifford – The Lady Wolverines’ Lexi Lawson picked up a pair of wins last week, an easy one over Pepperell and an outstanding performance in a 3-2 win over the Trion Lady Bulldogs. In that game, she recorded 12 strikeouts, pitching seven innings and giving up only two runs.
The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine softball team traveled to Pepperell on Monday, Aug. 12, for a non-region game with the Lady Dragons.
Dade County got off to a fast start, sending 18 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 14 runs, and putting the game away early.
The Lady Dragons responded with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Wolverines came right back with four runs in the top of the second to increase their lead to 18-1.
Pepperell managed to score two runs in the bottom of the third, but it was not enough as the game was called after three innings with Dade claiming a big 18-3 win.
The Lady Wolverines pounded out 15 hits in the game with Lexi Lawson, Adilynn Gross, Rylee Byram, Isabell White, Lilah Wilson, and Riley Talley collecting two hits each. Isabell White also had four RBIs.
Lawson picked up the win, pitching two innings, giving up three hits and one run, while striking out four.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Lady Wolverines hosted the Lady Bulldogs from Trion in another non-region game.
Tuesday’s game was much different from Monday’s as the two teams battled toe-to-toe for seven innings. Dade County got on the board first pushing across a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
They would add two more runs in the bottom of the second and seemed to be on their way to another big win, but the Trion pitcher settled in and shut them out the rest of the way.
The Lady Bulldogs finally pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 3-2, but Lexi Lawson shut the door the rest of the way as the Lady Wolverines claimed the hard fought 3-2 seven-inning win.
Lawson also helped herself at the plate, picking up three hits and two RBIs to go along with her strong pitching performance. Camy Chambers had two hits in the game for DCHS.
Lawson pitched all seven innings giving up just five hits, two runs, walking two, and striking out 14 to claim the win.
