Lady Wolverine Softball Faces Seven Teams In Seven Days

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine softball team was busy last week playing five games in five days as the season is in full swing.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, they hosted Murray County, and they were dominated by the visitors from Chatsworth. The visitors took the early lead, scoring in the top of the first inning and then adding two more runs in the third inning to go up 3-0.

Murray County scored four runs in the fifth inning putting them on top 8-0.

The Lady Wolverines finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with three runs to cut the lead to 8-3, but the visitors scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings while Dade County failed to score again and fell by the final score of 9-3.

The Lady Wolverines managed just four hits while committing seven errors in the game.

On Friday, Aug. 9, the Lady Wolverines opened play in the Dalton Invitational Tournament with a big win over Southeast Whitfield by the final score of 14-3.

Madi Page, Adilynn Gross, Lexi Lawson, and Riley Talley led the Lady Wolverines with two hits each. Lawson pitched five innings for Dade and allowed only five hits while striking out six.

Next up for the Lady Wolverines on Friday was Rabun County. The Lady Wolverines Kaleighly West pitched five strong innings for the win while Gross picked up two hits to lead the offense as they downed Rabun 9-4.

The defense played much better committing only one error in the game.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, the Lady Wolverines faced LaFayette’s Lady Ramblers for the second time this season. Unfortunately, the results were the same as they fell 11-3 to an exceptionally good team.

The Lady Ramblers took the lead in the second inning when they scored six runs and then coasted to a 11-3 win, outhitting the Lady Wolverines 10-4.

The final game of the tournament for the Lady Wolverines was against the Lady Tigers of Ringgold. In a pitchers dual the Lady Wolverines rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth inning to claim a 4-2 win in a game that saw 11 errors, only six hits and no earned runs.

This week, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Pepperell on Monday, hosted Trion on Tuesday, and then get a break until Aug. 19 when they travel to Trion.
