Mason Weathers placed first in the U.S. Kids Golf Tournament held at Trenton Golf Club on May 2. He also placed second at the Flagstone Golf Club in Cleveland, Tenn., on May 12. Weathers is a member of Dade County High School’s golf team.

The Dade County High School graduation was held last week but that did not signal the end of the Wolverine sporting events. Starting in August 2023, the Wolverines have been participating in various sports like football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, soccer, baseball, tennis, and track.

One event still remains. The Wolverine golf team will be wrapping up the 2023-2024 sports season this week when they compete in the state golf tournament at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.

The tournament was Monday and Tuesday, May 20-21, at the Georgia Southern Golf Course.

The Wolverines will be the third seeded team out of region 7 in class 1A.

The Wolverines competing in the tournament are Mason Weathers, Kooper Knight, Lucas Weathers, Ethan Williams, Heath Walters, and Eli Ryan.

The team traveled on Saturday to Statesboro and played a practice round on Sunday.

See next week’s Sentinel for complete results on the state golf tournament.

Good luck to the Wolverine golfers.
