The Dade County High School Wolverine track team competed at the state sectional track meet at Whitfield Academy this past weekend.
The Wolverines had 18 athletes compete at the meet. The top eight finishers at the meet move on to the state track meet at Barron Stadium in Rome May 9–11.

Wolverines Solomon Doe, Halen Chaney, Jace Anderson, and Braylon Sullivan advanced to the state meet.

Jace Anderson qualified in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. He will run both races in the preliminary round Friday, May 10. This is the second year in a row he will participate in a state competition.

The four boys on the relay teams are the main highlight, Solomon Doe, Halen Chaney, Jace Anderson, and Braylon Sullivan. They ran the 4×100 relay and the 4×200 relay races. They finished ninth in the 4×100 meter relay. They did not qualify, but they broke their record time with a time of 44.47.

In the 4×200 meter relay, they broke their personal record by over three seconds, finishing fifth with a time of 1:32.63. They will run in the state track meet on Saturday, May 11, and if they finish in the top eight, they will each receive a medal.

“I knew Jace was probably going to qualify for state, but I was not sure we would have anyone else because the private school competition made it very tough. However, these four boys put on their best collective performance of the season and showed the state that Dade County deserves a spot on the big stage. I am so excited for them,” coach Steve Green said.
