The Dade County High School Wolverine track team competed in the region championship meet on Monday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 24. Athletes who qualified will now compete in the sectional round at Whitfield Academy on Saturday, May 4.
Coach Steve Green made the following comments about the Wolverine track team and their progress this year.
“Our region was very challenging this season. Darlington and Pepperell are very strong track programs with consistent winning traditions. In spite of that, our kids competed very well. Our kids did a great job competing hard even through several could not place as high as we wanted.”
“I want to particularly point out our region champion, Jace Anderson and our hurdle coach Ashlie Smith. Ashlie has done an excellent job working with Jace and the rest of the hurdlers all season. Not only did all of our hurdler’s score, but Jace won a title that he was not initially favored to win. She has pushed her group all year and kept Jace focused on improving his time. The goal was a first-place title and a time of 39. They achieved both on Wednesday.”
