The Dade County Wolverine baseball team hosted the Coosa Eagles on Monday, March 11, in their second region series of the season.

The Eagles came into the game win-less so far this season as they have been struggling to score runs in their first eleven games.
That would not be the case on Tuesday when they jumped out to an early lead, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first to take the early 2-0 lead.

Coosa added three more runs in the top of the second inning to increase their lead over Dade County to 5-0 and was in complete control.

The Wolverines scored their first runs of the game in the third inning when they pushed across three runs on just two hits as the Eagles committed a couple of errors and hit a batter cutting the lead to 5-3.

Coosa rallied for two more runs of their own in the top of the fourth to increase their lead to 7-3 and then added another in the top of the sixth to make it 8-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, trailing 7-3, Dade went to work when Levi McKaig singled to start the inning and advanced to second on an error. Jett Shavers then singled to score McKaig. After an out, Jax Guinn singled scoring Shavers. Mason Gatlin then doubled to score Guinn and it was suddenly an 8-6 ball game with one out.

After an Eagle pitching change, Jake Harris doubled scoring Gatlin. Levi Jordan gets a base hit to score Harris to tie the game, 8-8. Jordan then scores on a balk by the Eagle pitcher and the Wolverines pick up the win 9-8.

Gatlin led the Wolverines with three hits and three RBI’s and Jordan had a pair of hits and one RBI. Kaiden Hubbard picked up the win pitching three innings and giving up just one hit.

Harris led the Wolverines with three hits, two runs scored and two RBI’s while Shavers had two hits and an RBI.
