On Thursday, the Wolverines hosted the North Sand Mountain Bison baseball team for the first home game of the season. Due to weather concerns for Friday, the teams played a doubleheader.
The game turned out to be a classic pitchers’ dual with both teams struggling to score runs. After a pair of scoreless innings, Dade managed to push a run across in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bison managed a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game 1-1. That would be the only runs scored until the bottom of the seventh when the Wolverines pushed across a run with two outs when Gatlin singled to score Hill with the winning run, 2-1.
Gatlin pitched 6.2 innings, giving up five hits and one run, while striking out nine and walking two.
The Bison pitcher pitched six innings, giving up three hits, one run, striking out seven, and walking one.
Gatlin had one hit and the game winning RBI while McBryar had one hit and an RBI.

Dade picked up its second run of the game in the sixth to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Bison put the game away in the top of the seventh when they scored four runs to claim a big 7-2 win over the Wolverines.
Jax Guinn took the loss while pitching six strong innings, giving up just three runs, one earned, striking out six, and walking three. He was hurt by five Dade County errors in the game.
