The Dade County Wolverine baseball team opened the 2024 season last week when they traveled to Ridgeland High School. The Wolverines, sporting a young team, will play their first seven games on the road, not playing a home game until Feb. 29, when they host North Sand Mountain.

The host Panthers scored the first run of the season in the bottom of the first inning, taking the early lead, 1-0.

Dade County got its first runs of the season in the second inning when three walks loaded the bases and Mason Gatlin singled to score two runs giving them a 2-1 lead.

Dade County pushed another run across in the top of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 6-3.

Ridgeland put the game away in the sixth inning, scoring three runs and taking a 9-3 lead.

The Wolverines were unable to score in the seventh, and the Panthers claimed the win 9-3.
