The Dade County Wolverines wrestling team concluded their 2023-2024 dual season this past Thursday with a 36-35 win over Fort Payne, Ala. It was senior night for the Wolverines as Jax Guinn, Eli Kimball, Brandon Willerson, and Landon Williams all wrestled their final home match for Dade. All four seniors will join their teammates this Saturday at Trion for Traditional Area, and a march toward individual state championships.

The following wrestlers will compete for Dade County at the Area Championships, Joseph Cain (106), Hayden Cureton (120), Colton Chase (126), Anderson Windsor (132), Rylan Whitehurst (138, Brandon Willerson (144), Gavin Childress (150), Jet Shavers (157), Jax Guinn (165), Mason Gann (175), Jordan Castellanos (190), Landon Williams (215), and Eli Kimball (285).

The girls’ team will compete in their Area Championships this Friday. The tournament was scheduled to be held at Lumpkin County, but due to flooding, it will be moved. The new location has not been announced yet. Maleah Wilson will compete at 105 pounds, Taylor Shrader will compete at 110 pounds, and Jerzee Crabtree will compete at 170 pounds.

“I feel like we have a chance to win a few weight classes this year. I would love to have four to five Area champions and a couple runner–ups this weekend. Our girls have been working hard as well, and I would like to see all three of them make it to the sectional round,” coach Jeff Poston said.
