They defeated the host Chattooga Indians to claim second place and a spot in the state. Good luck Wolverine wrestlers!
The Dade County wrestling team secured a berth in the State Duals this past Saturday at Chattooga County High School. The Wolverines finished as Area runners up. This is the sixth consecutive season Dade County has finished as either Area champion or Area runners up.
The team will travel to Heard County to compete in the 16-team tournament for a state title.
To get there the Wolverines defeated Darlington 54-9 and Armuchee 48-36 to reach the Area finals. Dade would then forfeit to Trion in the finals to save themselves for their match for true second against Chattooga County. The Wolverines defeated Chattooga 43-34 in a hard-fought contest.
“I am extremely proud of this team. They have grown up so much since we started this thing at the end of November. We have four freshmen in our lineup, and they have grown into competitors. We have a shot next week to finish in the top five, and I am excited to see how these guys compete,” coach Jeff Poston said.
