The Wolverines have been busy preparing for the duals and look to advance to the state duals coming up soon.
Dade County Wolverine wrestling team was busy on the mat last week with matches at LaFayette on Tuesday and Trion on Thursday.
The Wolverines lost a tight match to LaFayette Tuesday 39-36, and then beat North Murray 48-18.
The team then traveled to Trion on Thursday to take on Pepperell and Trion.
The Wolverines jumped on Pepperell early and cruised to a 54-15 win over the Dragons.
The Wolverines’ meet with Trion came down to the last couple matches, but the Bulldogs came out on top 43 to 30.
“I am really proud of how hard we have wrestled the last couple of weeks. We knew it would be a long shot to upset Trion, but we wrestled really well against them, and we could possibly flip a couple matches this week at Area Duals. Our main concern is to be in the top two, so we can go to state duals. We have a top four team in the state, but unfortunately number two or three is also in our Area, so we are going to have to continue to fight for it,” coach Jeff Poston said.
Area Duals will take place on Saturday at Chattooga County High School in Summerville.
