Lady Wolverines Suffer Two Losses at Sale Creek Tournament

Photo by Eddy Gifford – Alyson Jenkins got off a three-point shot in recent action. The Lady Wolverines will be at home on Jan. 5 when they face Darlington in a region game and then again on Jan. 6 when they will host Armuchee, also a region game.
Dade County High School’s Lady Wolverines basketball team took part in the Sale Creek Tournament last week and due to teams dropping out at the last minute they did not get to play all the games scheduled.
On Monday, Dec. 18, the Lady Wolverines faced off against Copper Basin, Tenn.
The two teams struggled to score early and at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wolverines found themselves down by three points, 10-7.
The scoring pace did not improve in the second quarter for either team as Copper Basin outscored Dade County 8-5 and took a six-point lead at the end of the first half, 18-12.
The second half was more of the same for the Lady Wolverines who have had trouble scoring all season. Their shooting percentage is improving but they still are having trouble getting their shots to fall when they need them.
Copper Basin outscored the Lady Wolverines 13-9 in the third quarter and built their lead to ten points, 31-21.
The Lady Wolverines tried to rally in the fourth quarter but again their shots just did not fall. They did manage to outscore Copper Basin for the first time in the game, but it was not enough as they fell 40-31.
Brooklyn Konrad led the Lady Wolverines with ten points and five rebounds while Alexus Atterton scored eight points. Adilynn Gross scored six points and pulled ten rebounds.
The Lady Wolverines now get a few days off for Christmas break. They will get back into action on Jan. 5 when they host a good Darlington team in a region game that is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
They will be back on the court Jan. 6 when they host Armuchee, another region opponent, at 5 p.m. and then travel to Trion on Jan. 9 for a 6 p.m., game.
