Lady Wolverines Showing Improvement on the Court

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverines basketball team faced Marion County’s Lady Warriors of Jasper, Tenn., on Tuesday, Nov. 21, in a non-region game. This would be the only game of the week as they took a break for Thanksgiving.
The Lady Wolverines got off to a slow start, scoring only six first quarter points but the defense held the Lady Warriors to just ten points and the quarter ended 10-6 in favor of the Lady Warriors.
In the second quarter, Dade County played hard and outscored Marion County 11-10 and trailed by just three points at the end of the first half, 20-17.
The wheels ran off for the Lady Wolverines in the third quarter when the Lady Warriors scorched the nets for 28 points, outscoring Dade County 28-10 and building the lead to 48-27.
The Lady Wolverines did not quit. They played hard the entire game and outscored Marion County in the fourth quarter, 17-14, but lost the game 62-44.
Junior Adilynn Gross led Dade County with 12 points, 18 rebounds, and two assists. Seniors Kailyn Castleberry and Brooklyn Konrad scored ten and nine points respectively with Konrad also grabbing nine rebounds.
The Lady Wolverines showed a lot of improvement in the game, doubling their shooting percentage over their previous two games, out rebounded the Lady Warriors 52-39, and scored 15 second chance points.
Look for more improvement from the Lady Wolverines as they work hard each week and adjust to new coaches.
The Lady Wolverines faced Oakwood Christian Nov. 28 in the first home game of the season. Dade County opens region play on Friday, Dec. 1 when they travel to Pepperell High School to face the Lady Dragons. They will be back at home on Tuesday, Dec. 5 to face the Lady Eagles of Coosa in another region game. All game times are 6 p.m.
