This is Homecoming week for the Wolverines and they will face Chattooga Friday at home with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.

The Dade County Wolverine football team faced the Coosa Eagles last Friday at Coosa and Dade was looking for its first region win of the season.

The Wolverines had a much-needed week off last week and came in ready to play and finish the season strong with four region games remaining and a good shot at making the playoffs again this year in spite of a 0-2 start in region play.

The game got off to a slow start for both teams as a light rain settled in over the Eagles’ field. Both teams struggled to move the ball in the first quarter, but Dade began to move the ball late in the quarter but failed to score and the first quarter ended 0-0.

On the first play of the second quarter, however, Braylon Sullivan went around left end for a 22-yard touchdown and the Caroline Tremmier kick put the Wolverines on top 7-0.

The Eagles tied the game two minutes later on a 20-yard pass play and the kick tied the game 7-7.

Dade County responded with another score by Sullivan with 4:53 remaining in the first half to put them back on top 13-7. The extra point try was not good due to a bad snap from center.

With just over a minute remaining in the first half, the Wolverines scored again, this time on a pass from Bryson Shrader to Sullivan for 43-yards and a two-point conversion pass to Sullivan put the Wolverines on top 21-7 with 58 seconds remaining in the half.

Dade got another score after an Eagle fumble set up a Landon Williams touchdown run with 21.8 seconds remaining and the Abigail Tremmier kick put them on top 28-7 at the end of the first half.

The Wolverines added another score in the third quarter when Williams got his second score of the night and the Caroline Tremmier kick put them on top 35-7 with 2:22 remaining in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Wolverines scored the final points of the game with just over eight minutes remaining when Shrader threw to Caleb Massey for a 10-yard touchdown and the Abigale Tremmier made it 42-7.

Williams led the Wolverine offense with 181 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns. Sullivan ended the night with 115 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns. Sullivan also caught three passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Shrader completed nine of 17 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

The Wolverines had 280 yards rushing and 149 yards passing in the game while the defense held the Eagles to just 88 yards rushing and 82 yards passing.

Jax Guinn led the defense with nine tackles, one assist, one quarterback pressure, one caused fumble, and one pass breakup. Levi Raines had four tackles and seven assists; Aidan Kerns with three tackles, one assist, and two tackles for loss; Brandon Willerson had two tackles, four assists, and one pass breakup; Justin Bradford with two tackles and one pass breakup; Landon Williams had two tackles and one tackle for loss; and Caleb Massey had two tackles and three assists.

The Wolverines will be at home this week when they host the Chattooga Indians on homecoming. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
