The Lady Wolverine softball team finished the season with a 10-0 region record and the top seed and host of the Fastpitch Softball Super Regional Class 1A Division 1 Tournament.
The Georgia High School Association changed to this format last year eliminating the first round and Sweet 16 round of the playoffs.
The eight region champions now host a super-regional with the winner of those regionals advancing to the Elite Eight in Columbus to determine the state champion.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 18 and 19, the Lady Wolverines will host the number two seed Commerce, three seed Jasper County, and fourth seed St Francis.
The first game will start at 11 a.m. between the Lady Wolverines and St. Francis followed by Commerce and Jasper County at 1 p.m. The winner of those two games will play at 3 p.m. and then a loser’s bracket game will be played at 5 p.m. Play will resume on Thursday with the championship game beginning at 3 p.m.
The Lady Wolverines first opponent, St. Francis High School from Alpharetta, comes in as the fourth seed from region 6 with a 4-7 region record and 13-9 overall. Commerce comes in as the second seed from region 8 with a 6-2 region record and 8-13 overall. Jasper County comes in as the three seed in region 5 with a 3-6 region record and 12-12 overall record.
