The Wolverines’ Demetrius Walker somehow keeps his balance after being hit and continues on for a big gain against the Bison during last week’s 55-13 win.

The Dade County High School Wolverine football team hosted the North Sand Mountain Bison on Friday night, Sept. 1, before a large crowd at Magic Morgan Stadium.

The Wolverines came into the game having lost their first two games (the last one a hard-fought defeat to Marion County at home) and were looking for a big night against the Bison.

NSM took the opening kick but was unable to move the ball on the Wolverine defense and was forced to punt after just three plays.

The Wolverines started with great field possession at the Bison 41-yard line, and on their first play from scrimmage, quarterback Bryson Shrader threw to Braylon Sullivan for a touchdown giving the Wolverines the early lead. The extra point kick by Abigail Tremmier was good and Dade County was up 7-0 with 6:30 remaining in the first quarter.

The NSM offense was forced to punt on their second possession, and this time, the Wolverines started at their own 20-yard line.

On the first play from scrimmage, Sullivan ran 80 yards for the Wolverines’ second score of the night and the Caroline Tremmier extra point put them on top 14-0 with 4:06 remaining in the first quarter.

The Bison punted again on their next possession, and Dade took over at NSM’s 30-yard line and Landon Williams scored on a 7-yard run with 9.9 seconds left in the first quarter. The Abigail Tremmier extra point put the Wolverines up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

With 9:11 remaining in the second quarter, Williams got his second touchdown of the night on a 30-yard run. The extra point try was blocked, and Dade County led 27-0 with 9:11 remaining in the first half.

North Sand Mountain got their first points of the night on a Hank Farmer touchdown run with 5:14 remaining in the first half and a two-point conversion try was no good and the Wolverines led 27-6.

The Wolverines’ Demetrius Walker returned at kick 80 yards, but a penalty nullified the run. Shrader then threw to Sullivan again for a 48-yard touchdown, and the Abigail Tremmier kick put Dade up 34-7 with 4:41 remaining in the first half.

The Wolverines got in the end zone again as Demetrius Walker scored on a 40-yard run with 2:06 remaining and the Caroline Tremmier kick made it 41-6 at the end of the first half.
