The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine softball team traveled to Gordon Lee on Tuesday, Sept. 5, for a non-region contest against a very talented Lady Trojan team.

Dade was set down in order in the top of the first inning as the Gordon Lee pitcher recorded two strikeouts and a ground out.

The Lady Trojans greeted the Lady Wolverines with a leadoff double and after an arrow, the third batter doubled to score two runs and the Lady Trojans were on their way.

Before the inning ended, Gordon Lee had scored seven runs on four hits, three of which were doubles, and three Dade County errors.

After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Trojans added three more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 10-0 lead.

The Lady Wolverines were unable to score in the fourth or fifth inning. The game ended on the run rule with the Lady Trojans claiming the 10-0 win.

Falyn Baggett and Rylee Byram had the only Lady Wolverine hits while Kayleigh Warnock took the loss pitching one inning and giving up seven runs but only one earned run. Lexi Lawson pitched three innings giving up three runs on four hits, walking three, and striking out one.

The Lady Wolverines traveled to Chatsworth on Wednesday, Sept. 6, for a rematch with the Murray County Lady Indians. Earlier this season, Dade County hosted Murray County and built a big lead early only to see the Lady Indians rally for the win late in the game.

Dade again got off to a fast start, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead.

After holding the Lady Indians scoreless for the first two innings, the Lady Wolverines added four more runs in the top of the third to increase their lead to 8-0.

Murray County scored their first runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a pair of runs and then added two more in the bottom of the fifth to cut Dade’s lead in half, 8-4.

The Lady Wolverines came to life in the top of the sixth with eight runs, moving to a 16-4 lead. They then shut down the Lady Indians in the bottom of the sixth to claim a big 16-4 win and get a little revenge for the early season loss.

Lawson led the Lady Wolverine offense with four hits, three runs, and two RBIs, while Warnock had three hits and one RBI. KK Castleberry, Adilyn Gross, Lilah Wilson, and Lexi Wallin all had two hits each in the 16-hit attack.

Warnock picked up the win, pitching six innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on eight hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.

This week, the Lady Wolverines got back into region play when they hosted Pepperell on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Dade will also host Armuchee on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
