Volleyball Team Travels to LFO on Thursday

Photo by Eddy Gifford – Abby Guffey returns a volley in recent action for the Lady Wolverine volleyball team. The Lady Wolverines will be in action at Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe on Thursday and travel to Rome on Saturday.
The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine volleyball team started last week off with a couple of big wins at home on Monday when they defeated Marion County and Ridgeland.
Dade County defeated Marion County 2-0 by winning the first set 25-9 and following that dominating win with a close 25-21 win in the second set.
Anna Ballard led the Lady Wolverines with three aces, two kills, eight assists, and four digs. Also having a big match was Azairah Reed with three aces, two kills, six assists, and two digs; Alabama McPhetridge with two kills, four assists, and eight digs; and Abby Guffey with three aces, six kills, and two digs.
Dade then took on Ridgeland and again dominated in the first set, 25-15, and also won the second set with a close 25-22 to take the match 2-0.
Ballard again led the way to victory with one ace, three kills, and eight digs. McPhetridge had three aces, and four digs while Brooklyn Konrad had two aces, three kills, and one dig.
On Tuesday, the Lady Wolverines faced Ringgold in a three-set match and lost all three, 26-22, 25-20, and 25-22, to lose the match 3-0.
Guffey led the Lady Wolverines with one ace, six kills, two assists, and seven digs. Others having a good night included Isabella Blake with six kills, two blocks, one dig; Ballard with three kills, nine assists, and 16 digs; Alyson Jenkins with one assist, eight digs; McPhetridge one ace, three assists, 10 digs; Kendal Emmett with one kill, 12 digs.
On Thursday, the Lady Wolverines were on the road and faced Oakwood Christian and LaFayette.
In the Oakwood Christian match, the Lady Wolverines won the first set 25-15 but then fell on hard times dropping the second set 25-22 and the third and deciding set 15-12.
McPhetridge led the way with one ace, six assists, and 12 digs. Ballard finished with two aces, six assists, and five digs.
In the LaFayette match, the Lady Wolverines never really challenged the Lady Ramblers as they dropped the first set 25-17 and then dropped the second set 25-11 to drop the match 2-0.
Ballard led the way with one kill, five assists, and four digs; Konrad had one ace, three kills, one and a half blocks, and two digs.
This week, the Lady Wolverines are on the road at Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe on Thursday to face the Lady Warriors and Hamilton Heights Christian Academy.
On Saturday, they face Rome High School in Rome starting at 10 a.m.
On Monday, they travel to Marion County to face the Lady Warriors and St. Andrews-Sewanee.
