Wolverines Qualify for State Tournament; Tee Off May 22

The Wolverine golf team is headed to the state tournament in Elberton on May 22 and 23. Qualifiers for the tournament are Heath Weathers, Avery Flatt, Mason Weathers, Lucas Weathers, Kooper Knight, and Ethan Williams. The tournament will be held at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course.

The Dade County High School golf team placed third in the area tournament last week and are now headed to the state tournament.

The area tournament was held at Stonebridge Golf Course in Rome. Darlington won the area with a team score of 287, Lamar County placed second with a score of 330, and the Wolverines placed third with a score of 388.

The individual qualifier was Walt Beach of Chattooga with a score of 77. Three Darlington golfers, Rocco Lopez, Andres Morales, and Braden Bell, tied for low medalist with scores of 71.

The Wolverines were led by Mason Weathers who shot an 80, Kooper Knight shot a 91, Heath Weathers shot a 99, Avery Flatt and Ethan Williams each shot a 118, and Lucas Weathers shot a 128.

The state tournament will be May 22 and 23 in Elberton at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course.
