Peek Added to DCHS Coaching Staff
The Dade County High School Wolverine football program added a new member to the coaching staff last week, announcing the hiring of Shawn Peek. Peek will coach on the defensive side of the ball and will be an integral part of the strength and conditioning program for all Wolverine athletes.
Peek spent 25 years coaching in Alabama before retiring in 2015. During that time, he served as the head coach at North Sand Mountain for eight years before two stints at North Jackson High School as defensive coordinator and head coach, and head coach at his alma mater Pisgah High School.
As the head coach at North Sand Mountain, he had the most wins in school history at the time. During his five years as head coach at North Jackson, he was a part of 50 wins.
While coaching in Alabama, he was named Jackson County coach of the year in 2014 and Region/Area Coach of the Year five times. He was also selected to coach in the Alabama High School All-Star Football Game and coached at the Army All-America Football Camp.
Peek also served as head coach of the Wolverines in 2004.
After retiring in Alabama, he was the defensive coordinator at South Pittsburg High School in Tennessee for five years where he was a part of 58 wins. His most recent position was the head football coach at Chattooga High School.
During his career, he has coached dozens of players who received All-State or All-Region honors, as well as division 1 scholarships.
Peek and his wife Dedra reside in Rising Fawn. His two daughters, Savanah and Chloe, are graduates of Dade County High School.
