The Lady Wolverines had an outstanding season, advancing to the second round of the tournament.
The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine soccer team hosted its second-round state tournament game last week against Mount Vernon High School from Atlanta.
Coming into the game, Mount Vernon was the third ranked team in 1A while the Lady Wolverines came in as the fifth ranked 1A team.
The visitors got off to a fast start scoring their first goal early in the contest and then followed with another goal not long after.
Dade struggled to get their game together early, but when they settled down, they played much better.
Trailing 2-0, they began to battle back and in the second half tied the game 3-3, but the visitors from Mount Vernon scored the final two goals to take the win 5-3 and ended the Lady Wolverines season.
The Lady Wolverines were disappointed but had a great season, advancing to the second round of the state tournament and picking up the Region 7 1A championship along the way with a 7-0 record.
The future is bright for the team, as a lot of talent will be returning next season to build on the foundation that was built this season.
Congratulations on a great season!
