Track Team Hosting Chattooga Indians Friday

The Dade County High School track teams opened the 2023 season recently and had a meet at North Murray High School on Tuesday, March 7.

The Wolverines finished second overall as a team and were the only single A school in the meet.

The boys participating that placed in the event were: Andrew Buffington, first in shot; Wes Owenby, second discus; Ian Byrd, third in discus and fourth in high jump; Braylon Sullivan, second in long jump and second in triple jump; Tanner Miller, fourth in 3200 meter and fourth in 800 meters.

Daniel Goff, fourth in 1600 meter; Brody Cooper, third in 110-meter hurdles and second in 200-meter hurdles; Jace Anderson, first in 300 meter hurdles; 4 x 800 relay, Daniel Goff, Tanner Miller, Rock Chaney, Waylon McDill, second as a team; 4 x 200 meter, Brody Cooper, Jace Anderson, Nick Eaceret, Braylon Sullivan, fourth as a team; and Kendyl Phillips, fourth in shot.

In a recent home meet, the Wolverines faced off against Northwest, Adairsville, Dalton, and Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe. The top finishers for the Wolverines were: Shot put – Buffington, first; triple jump – Sullivan, second; 3200 meter – Miller, fourth; 800 meter – Miller, fourth; discus – Owenby second; high jump – Byrd fourth; 100 meter – Sullivan third; 4X800 – Dade third; long jump – Sullivan second; 4X200 – Dade second; 110 hurdles – Cooper third, Anderson fifth; 300 hurdles – Anderson first, Cooper third.

The Lady Wolverines top finishers were: Shot put – Phillips, fourth; triple jump – Hughes sixth; 800 meter – Stinnett sixth; discus – Phillips sixth; 100 meter – Z. Hughes 10th; long jump – Z. Hughes fifth, K. Hughes seventh; 1600 meter – Stinnett fifth; 100 hurdles – Wolfe eighth.
The Wolverine track teams are scheduled to be at home on Friday, March 17, starting at 4 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to get out and support the Wolverine track teams.
