Lady Wolverines Face Coosa in First Game of Region Tourney

The Lady Wolverine basketball team hosted the Lady Indians of Armuchee High School last week, and it turned out to be a tough night for the Lady Wolverines who could not get their shots to fall, hitting just one of 19 three-point attempts in the game for just 5.3 percent. They also struggled from the free throw line, hitting just five of 15 for 33 percent.
The Lady Indians took the early lead and never looked back as they outscored the Lady Wolverines 13-7 in the first quarter.
A slow-paced second quarter saw Armuchee outscore Dade 8-6 for a 21-13 lead at the end of the first half.

It did not get any better for the Lady Wolverines in the second half as the Lady Indians outscored them 16-8 in the third quarter and led 37-21 heading into the fourth quarter.
Another slow-paced quarter ended with Armuchee taking the win 46-38 over Dade.
Adilynn Gross scored six points while grabbing ten rebounds to lead the Lady Wolverines while Ali Thompson had eight points and Brooklyn Konrad scored five points and grabbed nine rebounds.

On Friday night, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Trion High School to face the Lady Bulldogs in the final regular season game of the year.
Dade was looking for its second upset in two week against the second seeded Trion after upsetting the Lady Tigers of Darlington last week.
The Lady Wolverines got off to a good start and at the end of the first quarter held a one-point lead over the host Lady Bulldogs, 11-10.
Defense dominated the game in the second quarter as both teams struggled to score, but at the end of the first half, the Lady Wolverines were up 19-16 after outscoring them 8-6 in the third quarter.
Trion would battle back in the third quarter when they outscored Dade 13-8 to take the lead 29-27 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Wolverines kept battling, however, and outscored the host 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out another upset, 43-38.
Thompson had her best game of the season pouring in 25 points, hitting six three-point shots in the process. Konrad also had a big night scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double double. Gross grabbed a season high 15 rebounds.

The Region 7-A D1 Tournament gets started tonight at Armuchee High School in Rome with the Lady Wolverines taking on the Coosa Lady Eagles at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will play again on Friday at 7 p.m. against the Lady Indians of Chattooga. The Lady Wolverines will need two wins to advance to the state tournament. If Dade wins those two games, the team would then face the Lady Bulldogs of Trion on Saturday at 6 p.m.
