Lady Wolverines Earn Hard–Fought Win Over Lady Eagles

Dade County High School’s Lady Wolverines basketball team hosted the Lady Eagles of Coosa High School on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Dade got off to a good start, taking an early lead and then finishing the first quarter up 10-8.
In the second quarter, Coosa dominated and turned a two-point deficit into an eight-point lead by the end of the first half, 24-16.

The Lady Wolverines came out in the second half and turned up the defensive pressure, retaking the lead and holding the visiting Lady Eagles to no points in the third quarter. The Lady Wolverines managed 10 points in the quarter and heading into the final eight minutes lead, 26-24.
With both teams struggling to score in the fourth quarter, the game came down to the final seconds as Dade pulled out an ugly 29-28 win.
Coosa managed just four points in the second half, all in the fourth quarter. The Lady Wolverines managed just three-points in the fourth quarter, but their two-point third quarter lead held up for a 29-28 win.
Andi Norwood led the Lady Wolverines with nine-points and also grabbed 11 rebounds and had two assists. Ali Thompson and Brooklyn Konrad scored seven points each with Kailyn Castleberry scoring six.

On Friday night, the team traveled to Summerville to face the Lady Indians of Chattooga County, a team that they beat in double overtime at home a few weeks ago.
The Lady Wolverines would take an early lead and at the end of the first quarter were up 13-10.
The Lady Indians came back in the second quarter, outscoring Dade 15-9 to take the lead at the end of the first half, 25-22.
With both teams playing hard, the third quarter was back and forth with Chattooga rallying at the end to increase their lead to eight, 43-35.
The Lady Wolverines tried to come back in the fourth quarter but the Lady Indians managed to hold their lead and come away with a big 55-49 win.
With this loss, the Lady Wolverines were eliminated from post-season play with four region games remaining.
The Lady Wolverines were led by Norwood with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists while Thompson finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Konrad scored 12 points, had seven rebounds, and three assists.
The story for the Lady Indians was Makiya Parrish. She had a huge night with 38 of their 55 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and seven steals. In their overtime loss to the Lady Wolverines in December, she scored 29 points before fouling out.

The Lady Wolverines travel to Dalton today to face Dalton Academy in a region game. On Friday, the Lady Wolverines will be back at home when they face the Darlington Lady Tigers.
