Scoring Troubles Continue for Dade’s Lady Wolverines

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine basketball team resumed play last week when they hosted Oakwood Christian Academy from Chickamauga.
Both teams struggled to shoot the ball on this first game back after the Christmas break, and at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wolverines were up 9-3.

The second quarter was more of the same as each team managed to score just four points each, and at the end of the first half, Dade held on to the lead, 13-7.
In the third quarter, both teams continued to struggle scoring and the Lady Wolverines matched the Lady Eagles in points again and after three quarters were up 18-12.
The Lady Eagles had their best quarter of the night scoring 10 points, but the Lady Wolverines managed eight and held on for the win, 26-22.
Ali Thompson and Brooklyn Konrad led the Lady Wolverines with seven points each.

On Friday night, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Rome to face Darlington’s Lady Tigers in a big region game.
Dade, still struggling to score, managed just four first quarter points but the Lady Tigers managed only six to lead 6-4.
The Lady Wolverines did score in double figures in the second quarter, managing 12 points while Darlington scored 14 to lead at the end of the first half, 20-16.
In the second half, Dade fell back into their scoring slump and managed only eight third quarter points, but the Lady Tigers were struggling as well and managed just 10 to keep the Lady Wolverines in the game – trailing 30-24 after three quarters.
Down just six points heading into the fourth quarter, Dade had high hopes of pulling out a win on the road, but it was not meant to be.
Continuing the shooting woes, they managed just seven fourth quarter points and fell to the Lady Tigers by nine, 42-31.
Thompson led all scorers with 13 points while Andi Norwood scored six and pulled down 10 defensive rebounds.

On Saturday, it was on to Armuchee to face the Lady Indians in another region game. Dade’s struggles shooting the ball continued as the team managed just two points in the first quarter and then just three in the second quarter – trailing at the end of the first half 17-5.
In the third quarter the Lady Wolverines found their shooting range and managed to score 16 points and cut into the Lady Indians’ lead as they managed just eight points and heading into the fourth quarter were down 25-21.
Dade fought to the end, but it was not enough as they outscored Armuchee 13-12 but lost the game 37-34.
Adilynn Gross led the Lady Wolverines with 12 points and eight rebounds while Konrad scored 10 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for a double-double.

The Lady Wolverines faced Trion in another region game on Tuesday. They will travel to Pepperell on Friday to face the Lady Dragons at 6 p.m. and then host Sale Creek on Saturday with tip-off set for 4:30 p.m.
