Dade Wraps Up Play in Gordon Lee’s Christmas Tournament
The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine basketball team played in the Gordon Lee Christmas Tournament last week, and it turned out to be a long competition.
DCHS opened play on Monday, Dec. 19 against the Silverdale Academy Lady Seahawks.

The Lady Wolverines fell behind early but managed to hold their own through the first quarter, trailing just 18-11.
In the second quarter, however, Dade could not slow down the Lady Seahawks and had trouble scoring as well. By the end of the first half, the Lady Seahawks held a commanding 37-18 lead, getting outscored 19-7 in the second quarter.
In the second half, things did not get any better for the Lady Wolverines as they would manage just three third-quarter points while Silverdale coasted with eight points and built their lead to 45-21.
The fourth quarter was more of the same as Dade was outscored 8-6 and fell to the Lady Seahawks 53-27.
The Lady Wolverines were led by Adilynn Gross with 12 points and five rebounds.

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, the Lady Wolverines faced the Ridgeland Lady Panthers and took an early lead in a low scoring first quarter, 8-5.
The action picked up some in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers outscored Dade 13-9 to take a one-point lead at the end of the first half, 18-17.
Both teams played much better in the third quarter as the Lady Wolverines managed to tie the game at the end, outscoring Ridgeland 16-15 to make it 33-33 heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was all Lady Panthers as they dominated Dade 17-5 and pulled out the win 50-38.
Brooklyn Konrad had a big night for the Lady Wolverines, scoring 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double.

On Wednesday, Dec. 21 the Lady Wolverines faced the Lady Ramblers of LaFayette in their final game in the tournament.
DCHS got off to a bad start, falling behind early and ending the first quarter down 16-4.
While playing better, the Lady Wolverines were unable to keep pace with the Lady Ramblers and trailed 33-15 at the end of the first half.
The two teams swapped baskets in the third quarter with LaFayette coming out on top, 14-13 and were up 47-28 after three quarters of play.
The Lady Ramblers sealed the deal in the fourth quarter, outscoring Dade 16-9 and claimed an easy win over the Lady Wolverines 63-37.
Kailyn Castleberry, Adilynn Gross, and Andi Norwood led Dade’s scoring effort with eight points each.

The Lady Wolverines now get a much–needed break for Christmas and will resume play on Dec. 30 at home against Oakwood Christian at 6 p.m.
