Lady Wolverines Fall to Lady Eagles

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine basketball team traveled to Coosa High School in Rome on Tuesday, Dec. 6 to face the Lady Eagles in a Region 7 game.

The game was off to a good start for both teams with the Lady Eagles taking a one–point lead at the end of the first quarter, 11-10.

The action slowed in the second quarter as both teams had trouble shooting the ball. The Lady Wolverines did manage to tie the score at the end of the first half, 17-17 in the low scoring contest.

Dade, while still having trouble scoring, managed to build a five-point lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Coosa 12-7 to go up 29-24 after three quarters of play.

Things fell apart for the Lady Wolverines in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles came alive to outscore them 16-3 and claim a rare win over the Lady Wolverines 40-32.

Ali Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with 11 points and Brooklyn Konrad finished with seven points.

The Lady Wolverines were at home on Friday night and faced the Chattooga Lady Indians in another region game that started out with both teams struggling to score.

The first quarter ended with Dade up by five, but the two teams scored a combined nine points, with the host leading 7-2.

The action picked up in the second quarter as the Lady Indians outscored Dade 12-11 giving the Lady Wolverines a four-point lead at the end of the first half, 18-14.

Chattooga came out hot in the third quarter, scoring 18 points and overtaking DCHS who managed just seven points, to lead heading into the fourth quarter 32-25.

The Lady Wolverines started to chip away at the Lady Indians lead early in the fourth quarter and with just three second left tied the game 43-43.

In the first overtime, they battled for four minutes ending in another tie, 51-51.

In the second overtime, the Lady Wolverines hit a late shot to pull out the win, 60-57 and claim their first region win of the season.

The double overtime game saw five players foul out, two Lady Wolverines and three Lady Indians, with a total of 60 fouls called in the 40 minutes of play.

Dade’s Adilynn Gross had a breakout night scoring 17 points in 22 minutes of action while Brooklyn Konrad also scored 17 points.

The Lady Indians’ Makiya Parris led all scorers with 29 points before fouling out with less than a minute left in the second overtime.

On Saturday afternoon the Lady Wolverines hosted the Lady Bison of North Sand Mountain in a non-region game.

The Lady Bison got off to a fast start and built a six-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 20-14 in a fast paced first quarter.

NSM continued their hot shooting in the second quarter, scored 20 points again, and at the end of the first half had built their lead to 14 points, 40-26.

The Lady Wolverines managed to close the gap in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Bison 15-7 but still trailed 47-41 heading into the fourth quarter.

NSM picked up the pace again in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Wolverines 17-8 and claiming a big 64-40 win.

Ali Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with 12 points and Brooklyn Konrad with 11.

The Lady Bison were led by Kayden Reyes with 19 points, Kamryn Patterson with 14 points, and Ashley Shrader with 12 points.
