Preview Of Upcoming Lady Wolverines Basketball Season

Lady Wolverine basketball coach Regena Logan gave the following pre-season outlook for the team heading into the season:

The 2022-2023 Lady Wolverine Basketball team will be a young team that will be looking to the two seniors, Ali Thompson and Kaitlyn Stinnett, for leadership. Ali and Kaitlyn both contributed to the varsity team last year and will be two of the girls that the team will be relying on to help put points on the scoreboard.

Ali has a great shot from behind the three-point line, but she can also attack the paint and take it to the rim. Both young ladies play hard on the defensive end and will cause havoc. Kaitlyn often finds herself outsized in the post but uses her skill and athleticism to go to battle night after night against every match–up, regardless of size. Kaitlyn has worked hard in the off–season to improve her shooting range which will make her a threat from the three-point line.

The junior class brings players Brooklyn Konrad, Andi Norwood, KK Castleberry, and Lex Atterton. The four of these young ladies will have big shoes to fill as they log more minutes this year on the varsity team. Expect big things from Brooklyn Konrad in the post while watching outside the paint as she can also hit the midrange and the three-point shot. Andi, KK, and Lex bring speed to the guard positions. The team will be relying on them to handle pressure, bring intensity to defense, and be vocal leaders on the floor. All three are a dual threat from the three-point line and the paint.

The sophomore class brings back a trio including Adilynn Gross, Alyson Jenkins, and Briana Marlow. They will be seeing minutes at the varsity level. Adilynn and Briana will be sharing minutes at post (power forward and center). Adilynn brings versatility to the team by also seeing time as a three guard. Alyson Jenkins might be short in stature, but she makes up for that with her grit. Look for her and Lex Atterton to become defensive stoppers for us. The team will rely on their skill against other teams’ best guard. Big things will be expected out of the sophomores.

The JV team includes sophomores Zariah Hughes and Hallie Hartline. A larger freshman class brings the team Kiera Hughes, Lexi Lawson, Morgan Edwards, Georgia Marter, Camy Chambers, Josie Daniels, and Shaki Carino.

The JV girls are working hard and have come in as very coachable during this transition from middle school to high school basketball. They bring energy, speed, intensity, and grit to the team.

The younger girls are learning what it takes to be a Lady Wolverine. Even though they are young, they do not back down from a challenge.

We would love to see the stands packed every game, but especially at home. Fans bring energy and excitement that the girls thrive on. Thank you in advance for helping us pack the stands with familiar faces.
