Lady Wolverines Claw Their Way To A Win Over Ringgold

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine basketball team continued play last week in the Ridgeland Thanksgiving Tournament, taking on Signal Mountain on Monday afternoon.

Dade struggled to score in the first quarter as Signal Mountain hit for 19 points to take a big 19-5 lead.

The second quarter was more of the same for the Lady Wolverines as they managed just five points again and at the end of the first half trailed a good Signal Mountain team, 34-10.

Things did not improve much in the third quarter as Dade continued to struggle while Signal Mountain built on their lead and was up 51-19 after three quarters of play.

The Lady Wolverines had a bad shooting night and fell to Signal Mountain 58-28.

Ali Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with ten points while Adilynn Gross scored six and Kailyn Castleberry scored five.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Wolverines were back on the court, this time facing the Ringgold Lady Tigers.

The Lady Wolverines continued to struggle scoring early but managed a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter as the Lady Tigers also struggled, 8-7.

Dade’s struggles continued in the second quarter, but Ringgold found their range and took the lead and at the end of the first half were up 22-15.

The Lady Wolverines came out a different team in the third quarter, having their best quarter scoring of the year as they poured in 16 points while the defense held the Lady Tigers to just six to give them a 31-28 lead after three quarters of play.

Ringgold found their range in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough as the Lady Wolverines outscored them 14-13 to claim their first win of the season, 45-41.

Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with eleven points while Andi Norwood was close behind with ten points.

This Friday, the Lady Wolverines will host the Pepperell Lady Dragons with tip-off set for 6 p.m. The Wolverines will follow for their first game of the season.
