Softball Comes Away With OT Win At Pepperell

Dade County High School’s Lady Wolverines softball team traveled to Pepperell on Tuesday, Sept. 13 to face the Lady Dragons in a big region game.
The pitcher’s duel saw the game go scoreless for the first five innings before Dade took a 1-0 lead only to see the Pepperell tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.
After seven innings of play it remained tied 1-1 then the Lady Wolverines pushed across another run in the top of the eighth inning and went on to claim the victory 2-1.
Ali Thompson and Kaitlyn Stinnett had two hits each for the Lady Wolverines while Kayleigh Warnock picked up the win pitching eight innings. Warnock struck out nine and walked two and did not give up an earned run while throwing 117 pitches.

On Thursday, Sept. 15 the Lady Wolverines hosted the Armuchee Lady Indians in another region game.
The Lady Indians took the lead in the top of the first inning, picking up a single run but the Lady Wolverines answered in the bottom of the first with a pair of runs and never looked back.
In the bottom of the second inning Dade exploded for 11 runs to take the lead 13-1 and then ended the game in the bottom of the third with three more runs for the final of 16-1.
The Lady Wolverines pounded out 19 hits in the game led by Alyssa Wilson, Stinnett, and Karlee Welch with three hits each while Thompson, Kendyl Phillips, and Falyn Baggett had two hits each.
Warnock picked up the win giving up one run and striking out two.

The Lady Wolverines traveled to Dalton for a tournament Friday and Saturday facing Calhoun in their first game on Friday afternoon and dropping a tough game 6-3.
Dade took the early lead but could not hold it, committing three errors in the game .
Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with a pair of hits while Maddie Cuzzort took the loss giving up four earned runs in three innings of work.

In their second game on Friday DCHS faced Dalton and came away with a 6-3 win. The game was tied 1-1 after one inning, 2-2 after two innings and then Dalton took the lead in the third 3-2. In the bottom of the fourth the Lady Wolverines scored four runs to take the win 6-3.
Thompson and Phillips led the way with two hits each while Warnock picked up the win pitching five innings – giving up just one hit, one earned run and striking out six.

On Saturday, the Lady Wolverines faced Woodland in their first game and fell behind 4-0 after one inning of play. They closed the gap in the third with a pair of runs but Woodland answered with a run in the fourth to make it 5-2.
Dade added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth but again Woodland answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and went on to win the game 6-4.
Phillips led the Lady Wolverines with three hits while Thompson, Wilson, and Warnock had two hits each. Cuzzort pitched five innings giving up just one earned run.

The final game of the tournament for the Lady Wolverines was against Dacula and it was a tough loss as they took the early lead but was unable to hold it and fell 9-2.
Four errors really hurt DCHS who was led by Wilson with two hits. Warnock took the loss giving up only two earned runs and striking out four.

The Lady Wolverines are now 9-9-1 for the season and got back to region play this week when they hosted the Chattooga Lady Indians on Tuesday. On Thursday they will travel to Darlington to face the Lady Tigers at 5 p.m.
