Dade County High School Wolverine football team made their 2022-23 season debut Friday night in a controlled scrimmage against the Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe Warriors.

The Wolverines dominated the Warriors in all aspects of the game taking a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and then coasting to an easy 35-0 win.

Dade displayed a strong running game with several different running backs and the passing game was equally impressive.

The defense dominated the out-manned Warriors as well allowing very little yardage and only a few first downs during the scrimmage.

Coach Jeff Poston stated, “I was pleased with our effort, but not with how we executed in a couple of situations.”

The Wolverines open the season Friday night at home against the Athens Academy Spartans from Athens. The AA Spartans will be a challenge for the Wolverines.

Get out and fill the stands in support of the Wolverines who will be traveling for the next three weeks before their next home game.

Next Aug. 26 DCHS will travel to North Sand Mountain, Marion County on Sept. 9 and then to Swain County (Bryson City) N.C. on Sept. 16.

The Wolverines will open Region 7A play at home against the Darlington Tigers on Sept. 23.
