Lady Wolverines Move Into Second Place In Region Standings

Dade County High School’s Lady Wolverine basketball team was back in action Jan. 24th when they hosted the Coosa Lady Eagles who came in looking for their first region win of the season.

Dade struggled in the first quarter, scoring just eight points, and holding a one-point lead after the first eight minutes of play, 8-7.

The Lady Wolverines got things going in the second quarter and dominated the visiting Lady Eagles outscoring them 17-2 to take a 25-9 lead at the end of the first half.

Dade substituted a lot in the second half and continued to build on their lead, up 39-18 at the end of the third quarter.

Coosa managed just two fourth quarter points and the Lady Wolverines coasted to an easy 50-20 win.
Stella Henry led DCHS with 14 points with Olivia Tierce and Ali Thompson scoring eight each.

On Tuesday, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Pepperell to face the Lady Dragons for the second time, and it turned out to be a real battle. Dade had won the first game easily early in the season, but the determined Lady Dragons had upset on their minds.

The Lady Wolverines held a one-point lead at the end of a low scoring first quarter, 7-6.

Dade managed a little breathing room in the second quarter when they outscored the host 12-7 to take the lead 19-13 in the low scoring game.

The Lady Dragons battled back in the third quarter to take a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, 25-24.

The Lady Wolverines fought their way to a hard-fought win by outscoring the host 11-5 in the fourth quarter and came away a 35-30 winner.

Stella Henry again led the Lady Wolverines with 14 points while Emma Heard finished the night with eight

On Friday night the Lady Wolverines hosted Model’s Lady Blue Devils in a big region game. DCHS jumped out to an early lead and never looked back against a team they have battled toe-to-toe for years.

By the end of the first quarter the Lady Wolverines were up 14-5 and were in complete control of the game.

In the second quarter Dade continued to dominate, outscoring the visiting Lady Blue Devils 13-5 to build a commanding 27-10 lead at the end of the first half.

The Lady Wolverines had trouble getting started in the third quarter as Model outscored them 11-4 to close the gap to 31-21 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Wolverines would rally for 11 fourth quarter points to secure the win 42-31 and take over second place in Region 7-AA in the process.

Ali Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with 13 points followed by Stella Henry with 10.

The Lady Wolverines traveled to Coosa on Tuesday and will host Gordon Central on Friday night. Dade travels to Chattooga on Saturday for a makeup game with the Lady Indians. All three games are important region match–ups.
