The Dade County High School Wolverine basketball team traveled to Model High School on Tuesday, Jan. 4 for a big Region 7-AA game with the Blue Devils.
DCHS got off to a good start and as the two teams battled toe–to–toe the first quarter ended tied at 13-13.
The second quarter was more of the same as the teams traded baskets, but the Blue Devils managed to pull out a two-point lead at the end of the first half, 27-25.
It was more of the same in the third quarter as the two evenly matched teams continued their toe-to-toe battle, exchanging baskets with no one able to pull away. At the end of the third quarter Model still held a slight lead, 40-37.
The fourth quarter was a different story as the Wolverines went cold and the Blue Devils heated up and pulled away, outscoring the Wolverines 25-9, and coming away with a big region win, 65-49.
Dade was led by Brody Cooper’s 15 points, being the only Wolverine to score in double figures.

On Saturday afternoon the Wolverines traveled to North Sand Mountain to face the Bison in a non-region game and Dade jumped out to the early lead, going up 5-1.
That did not take long to change however as NSM came storming back from their slow start and by the end of the first quarter were up 24-7 as the Wolverines went cold shooting and had several turnovers leading to easy Bison points.
Dade managed to get their game back together in the second quarter, but NSM never let up and their hot shooting, especially from three-point range, gave them the lead at the end of the first half, 53-27.
The third quarter was more of the same as the Bison continued to score at will and the Wolverines were never able to put a run together and trailed 80-45 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter the game was played with a running clock due to the mercy rule and the Bison coasted to an easy 88-60 win.
Max Howard led the Wolverines with 14 points and Conner Wilburn scored 11 and were the only two in double figures.
North Sand Mountain was led by Derek Bearden who led all scorers with 31 points, hitting five of 10 three-point shots. Other Bison in double figures were Kaleb Helton with 21, Drue Carlton with 14 and Chandler Sullivan with 11.
