The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine basketball team continued play last week in the Ridgeland Thanksgiving Tournament.
On Monday afternoon the team faced off against the Ringgold Lady Tigers. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as Dade had a lot of trouble putting the ball in the basket. By the end of the first quarter the Lady Tigers had built a commanding 18-3 lead.
While Ringgold struggled to score in the second quarter so did the Lady Wolverines and at the end of the first half it was 26-6 Lady Tigers.
The very good Ringgold team continued to build on their lead in the third quarter as Dade’s dismal shooting woes continued and heading into the fourth quarter trailed 42-10.
As the Lady Tigers coasted the Lady Wolverines managed nine fourth quarter points and fell by the final score of 48-19.
Ali Thompson led the Lady Wolverines with seven points and Kami Counts added five. The team shot just 22.2 percent for the game and hitting just four of 10 free throws.

Unfortunately for the Lady Wolverines they again found themselves having trouble scoring and by the end of the first half the game was tied 18-18.
The shooting woes continued in the third quarter when they managed just seven points while the Lady Generals were heating up and scored 14 to take the lead, 32-25.
It was more of the same in the fourth quarter as Heritage continued to outshoot Dade and claimed the win 47-34.
Thompson was again the leading scorer for the Lady Wolverines pouring in 14 points and was closely followed by Kristen Fowler with 11.
While the shooting improved to 28.6 percent in this game the Lady Wolverines still need to improve to turn their 0-3 start around. They made seven of 12 free throws for 58.3 percent.
