Lion’s Club Raises Funds With 5K Race

Dade County Lion’s Club held its second 5K fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021. The first ever
Lion’s Club 5K was held in the spring.
Runners traveled to Rising Fawn from as far as 200 miles away to support members of the Dade County Lion’s Club and their work with the visually impaired in Dade County.
Sponsors from throughout Dade County and surrounding areas provided donations to cover race costs and allow each runner to receive a door prize including dining certificates, home furnishings, and even homemade desserts made by none other than race director, and current Lion’s Club President, Ronnie
Cartwright.
Cartwright said, “The generosity of Dade Countians and runners from across the
South made it possible that 100 percent of race entry fees went straight to the funding of vision
screenings and eyeglasses for those in need here in Dade County.”
Andy Breeden and Kaleb Stinnett, both Dade County High School seniors, finished first and second overall in both the Spring and Fall races.
