The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine volleyball team traveled to Blairsville last week for their Elite Eight match up with Union County in the state volleyball tournament.
It was a good match up for the Lady Wolverines who were looking to advance to the final four!
In the first set, the close hard-fought match could have gone either way, but the host Union County team held on for a close 25-21 win to go up 1-0.
The second set was more of the same with the two teams battling each other for every point but again Union County pulled out the close match, this time 25-23 to take the lead 2-0.
The third and final set would also go to Union County 25-13 and the match 3-0.
The loss ended the Lady Wolverines season, a very successful one, advancing to the Elite Eight for only the second time in program history.
Coach Carrie Morris and her staff are to be commended for their efforts throughout the year.
Highlights from the match for the Lady Wolverines included Kendal Emmett, two aces, two digs; Zoie Smith, four kills, 10 assist, four digs; Anna Ballard, two kills, three digs; Heidi Raines, five kills, one block, 13 digs; Delaynee Davis, 15 digs; and Abby Guffey, three kills.
Congratulations to the Lady Wolverines on a very successful season.
